It's beautiful here today, sunny and 80+ degrees. (Is it really just May?) So I've been outside engaging in my annual ritual of wrestling my pathetic excuse for a garden into shape. Those of you who've followed this blog over the seasons know I do not have a green thumb, nor share that near orgasmic pleasure that many of my friends get from digging in dirt. But I do feel compelled by some combination of shame and self respect to attempt to produce at least my own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes.
A couple of weeks ago, Chuck Petersheim proudly showed me his and Lisa's new garden. After I dutifully oohed and awed over the perfectly spaced raised beds, he told me that it was all do to the Dirt Diva, Adrianne Picciano. Adrianne is an organic gardener with one of those super green thumbs, sort of a plant whisperer. And she's set up an absolutely brillliant business, at least for those of us who would rather clean our toilets or recover from a Blue Screen of Death than pull weeds.
Adrianne will come over and set up your entire garden, from making the raised beds to preparing the soil to selecting the plants and well, planting them. Then she'll come back every couple of weeks to tend your garden. So in August, when your guests are up for the weekend, you can saunter out to your own garden to pick your tomatoes, lettuces and vegetables for dinner. Your own garden is, after all, the de rigeur country fashion accessory.
You can check out the Dirt Diva's website and find out how to contact her at http://www.gardensforeatin.com/?page_id=2.
how about someone to come and clean my windows too while I am in the city slicking around?

gg, there are people who will do that. The guy across from me has a reliable guy who basically house-sits while he is a way.
As for gardening, personally I think doing the digging and such, selecting the plants and so on is most of the fun in gardening.

Thanks for the mention David. I have been getting some calls and traffic on my website. The downside is that I am booked for the season and have to turn people away!
All is well in Dirt Diva Land.
