Shortline has brought back it's western Sullivan County connecting bus service for the summer. The route makes 4 stops after Monticello --- the racino, White Lake, Bethel Woods and the Villa Roma in Callicoon and takes 40 minutes. 5 buses a day operate westbound, 4 eastbound every day except Tuesday and Wednesday, and connect with Shortline service in Monticello to and from NYC. (Note: the connection from New York on the 4:30PM departure from Port Authority isn't guaranteed, so if guests are arriving on that bus be prepared to pick them up in Monticello if it misconnects.)
The fare is $70 round trip from New York to Callicoon (Villa Roma). You can download a .pdf of the schedule at http://www.coachusa.com/CoachUsaAssets/files/98/4x9-Sullivan.pdf.
Good grief. $70 seems kind of outrageous.

Probably just not enough demand to drive the price down. There's been a real proliferation of discount bus services in NYC over the past several years. You can go to Boston or Washington, DC, for about $15 to $20 each way and that's twice the distance of Sullivan County but the basic problem with bus service is they get stuck in the same traffic jams as cars trying to get out of the city.
Getting there by rail would be better:
